Retailers have expressed the need to enable multiple tax types within a single store. This allows them to comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
FEATURE OVERVIEW
- This feature is available for stores using Zippin's payment/billing system.
- This feature is enabled and configured on a per-store basis.
- Each tax type can be applied on a per-SKU basis.
- Each tax type can be configured either as a fixed number or as a percentage.
- Upon refund, the corresponding tax(es) and deposit(s) will be refunded.
ADDING A NEW TAX TYPE FOR YOUR STORE
1. On your Dashboard Store page, click on SKU Catalog
2. Click on the Tax Types icon on the menu near the top of your page in the bottom left corner. The text Tax Types will appear upon hover.
3. Click on the “+” icon on the far right.
4. Type in the Name, Code, and select a Type from the dropdown menu.
The Name is the name of the tax or deposit to be designated to a SKU.
The Code is how it will be referenced. It can be similar to the Name while adhering to the following constraints:
- All lowercase letters
- No special characters except for “_”
The Type is either a percentage or fixed number. Taxes are typically in percentages.
The Upper Limit is a rule that prevents tax rates being set higher than this specified limit. This feature prevents typos that can arise from human error. The upper limit selected is applied to all stores belonging to a tenant.
5. Click Add to add your new tax type.
Repeat steps 3 to 5 for any additional tax types.
Note: Tax types cannot be deleted from the Dashboard. Please check that your tax type does not already exist before creating a new one. Existing tax types can be edited instead of creating a new one. For assistance with deleting tax types, please contact Zippin Retailer Support.
