Accurate customer receipts rely on accurate SKU information, particularly SKU images and product weight (where sensors exist).
| To add SKU's manually or through a bulk import, SKU Categories are first required. See article. |
FIELDS & GUIDELINES
| SKU (ID) |
The retailer determines this alphanumeric identifier for each product. It must be unique and between 1-64 characters. Special characters can also be used (# . _ - ) Consult with your internal team to ensure the SKU ID entered matches the SKU used in your internal systems. SKU ID must match the SKU ID provided with integrations, such as SkyTab and Yellowdog |
Required |
| Name | Product name plus form plus product size, ex- Coca Cola bottle, 12oz. This is displayed to customers on the receipt and within the app 'menu'. Special characters are allowed. The product weight should be included in the title - this is important because it assists Zippin on the backend. The weight read directly from the packaging is acceptable. | Required |
| Base price |
5 represents $5.00. The currency is set at the store level. If tax is included, this is the price with the tax added. If tax is separate, this is the pre-tax price of the item. * This is required for all stores where Zippin takes the authorization and computes the receipt totals. This is the process for most stores. |
Required * |
| Tax rate |
If tax is included in the base price, leave the field at the default of '0'. If tax is separate, enter the local sales tax rate for this item. Enter 8.75% as 8.75% (not .0875). This field rounds to 4 decimal places if it exceeds 4 decimal places (ex- 8.75924 rounds to 8.7592) |
Optional |
| Unit weight | The weight of the product plus packaging in grams. Use a kitchen scale to get an exact weight. Exception: If the store is using camera vision only, the weight entered does not need to be precise. Enter any weight if store does not use sensors. Note: Zippin can handle between 10-25% variance in an item’s weight. The amount depends upon the weight of the item, and how many of the item could be realistically picked at once. For larger, heavier items--for example a 700g drink--where a customer can likely only grab 2 items the variance can be as high as +/-25%. For a lighter item, closer to 30g, where a customer could grab 5 at a time the variance should be no more than +/-10%. If you have questions about a specific item then Zippin can help. |
Required see exception |
| Store ID | It is possible to assign the SKU to multiple stores by separating store ID's with a comma. If you are a retailer with multiple stores within a location, by default it will be available at all stores within that tenant location. | Optional |
| Category | Ex - beverage, meal, snack. SKU categories are defined at the tenant level if you have multiple stores within a location. It is possible to assign to multiple categories by separating categories with a comma. |
Required |
| Images |
Use either jpg or png files. Image must have a white background (typically available through a Google Image search). Images are scaled to a 200x200 square image. Multiple images permitted. Max file size 1 MB. Image must reflect the product as it is sold and packaged. See below for more. An image URL may also be provided instead of a file. See the note below. Multiple images can be provided. The system can tolerate image variance (ex- coke may change the can image. The system will learn this new image) |
Required |
| UPC Code | Retailers may enter the product's Universal Product Code if desired. UPC's may be required for certain integrations to work. | Optional |
| Receipt Name | If a product title, other than the product name, is desired to show on the shopper's receipt, that title may be entered here. | Optional |

IMAGES
Images should mirror what the overhead AI-powered camera will see. This image should include the packaging. Packaging must be unique for each SKU. For example, if selling chicken tenders and hamburgers, the containers must be unique (either a different colored or shaped box, or a different colored sticker on the container). Consult your account manager if there are questions.
