Lanes width, for certain shelf types, can be expanded or contracted from their current width to accommodate various product sizes.
Lanes on a shelf can be either
- merged: two lanes marry to form a bigger shelf. Once lanes are merged, the expanded lane must be stocked with a single SKU ID.
- split: an existing lane is divorced into two smaller shelves
Notes about the Process
- Shelves must be re-configured in the backend first
- The Zippin Support team is required to ensure there are no pending orders in progress
- Contact your Zippin Account POC if you need assistance understanding if the shelf in question is capable of merging or splitting.
Before reaching out
- Confirm the product you want to merge is sufficient in weight
- The requirement for shelf weight is 30g per lane. In order to merge 2 lanes, the product must be at least 60g (30g x 2 lanes). If order to merge 3 lanes, the product must be at least 90g (30g x 2 lanes) and so on.
- Note: The product weight, which includes all packaging, can be confirmed by viewing the item in the Dashboard < SKU Catalog
- If the weight in grams is in doubt, re-weight the product with a kitchen scale (with all packaging in tact)

- If splitting lanes, ensure the lane dividers required are physically onsite. Store leadership is responsible for ensuring the lane dividers are stored in a safe location when lanes are merged.
